How do I learn the language?

Speaking and writing in Dutch is necessary. With everything. Such as by earning, working, understanding the society and getting to know people.

All newcomers are get lessons in the Dutch language.

You take a test and then you know what language and learning level you have. You will receive an invitation for that. You will receive language lessons at a level that suits you.

The Civic Integration Counsellor explains to you which learning routes there are.

There are three educational routes:

  • B1 Route: For learning the language (B1) and a good start to (volunteer) work.
  •  The Education Route: You will obtain a Dutch school diploma as soon as possible.
       Especially for young people.
  • The Self-Reliance Route: If you don't make it to the other routes. You learn to
       be self-reliance in society.

Have you finished your integration and do you want to learn the language (even) better? Then you can contact de Bieb (Library) for information about language lessons. They will check what suits you the best.
